This is still tied to goal seeking. He might have said, “Success does not bring happiness. Happiness is success.” But he would have confused the heck out of people.
Nicely stated, Kim. This is another quote that speaks directly to my experience in education, where people are nothing if not goal-oriented. All the time we hear, “How will your school make my child successful?” and I sometimes want to shout, “If they’re happy, the rest will follow. And if they’re not happy, what does the rest of it matter?”
But I think you’re right: this would probably confuse a lot of people.
